The shoulder is a magnificent and complex part of the human body. It allows a wide range of movement and is comprised of three major joints and a whole host of muscles, ligaments and nerves. It is a mobile joint, but with its increased mobility comes limited stability and therefore the muscles, ligaments and nerves in the area are often susceptible to injury and pain.
Different forms of shoulder pain can be experienced, including pain between the shoulder blades, in upper chest (collar bone region) and around top of the arm. Not all shoulder pain stems from injury to the area however; some shoulder pain can be attributed to referred pain for the gall bladder or heart.
